The Role of Religion in Contemporary Australia Is a Complex One
The question as to whether the church or religion has any role in binding the community is what is in a lot of peopleÂ’s minds. To a big percentage of individuals, it is clear that the role played by religion is not the same as the one it played in the earlier periods of migration. At this time, religion was believed to provide assumption basis in relation to values, reality and the truth. It is asserted that in every religionÂ’s heart, lies a story, a story about the world and the universe and how it is, and it tells of the peopleÂ’s position in the universe. It is regarded as a story that presents a picture of the possibilities that human beings have and their numerous failure (MaIDox 2009). In aIDition to every story that is presented, it is assumed that each one of them has an angle, the angle of the enemy. It is a story that tells us why the enemy or the devil is regarded to as being evil and the things that man is supposed to do in order to overcome the enemy whether the enemy is in the person, outside the person, in another person or in a different creature in form of supernatural powers. As Aldrige (2007) notes, it may be assumed that a community is made up people who share a specific belief or story. These are individuals who share the picture of the universe regarding to how the story has portrayed it. These peopleÂ’s hopes and the future are depended on the story. From the story, a unification of the peopleÂ’s efforts arises by identifying whatever that is wrong and together work for the common goal of overpowering it. It is due tot his that religion is considered to be a fundamental component of a number of communities.
