Population Growth

It is assumed that there will reach a time when population will decrease; current evidence indicates that the population is exponential. The human population growth rate can be computed by subtracting the number of deaths form the number of live birth rates (Chamon & Kremer 10). The difference arrived at in this equation indicates the natural increase population growth rate. In a number of instances, the natural population rate of growth is often affected by death rates, and birth rates. However, the increase in birth rates has had the largest influence on the natural rate of human population.  The growth of the world population has been so tremendous in the last couple of years. The world population is believed to have passed six billion by the year 1999. Currently, reports are indicating that in mid 2010, the population had clocked 6,852,472,823 (Barnes, World Bank and Industry and Energy Dept 11).

The chart below illustrates the world population in the past years and the estimated population in the years to come.
