Senate, the US house and the Obama administration have not all agreed on the best way forward regarding the federal budget (Krugman, 2011). Budget proposals supporting rising of taxes are sure ways of reducing the budget deficits (The Herald Daily, 2011). The shortages indicted b the budget cannot be covered by spending cuts only. In assuring increases in government revenues at a shorter notice, these tax raises will provide the finances required to cover the remainder of the fiscal year; a position supported by white house.

Significant tax raises on the “high income” earners and the wealthy class of the American society, in aIDition to raises in social security, which would translate to income tax from about six percent of all workers, would greatly reduce the deficits as reported by Krugman in the New York Times (Krugman, 2011). Suggestions of rescinding many of the tax cuts made by the bush administration would go along way in assuring revenue raises for the budget. These raises are likely to be rejected by the republicans, and the affected sections of the society.  The Herald Daily The Herald Daily presents a clear picture on the deficit targets, with the projected shortfalls “hitting $1.4 trillion for this fiscal year”, set by the administration with a neutral stand (The Herald Daily, 2011).
