The United States constitution recognizes various laws governing the country, both the basic and supreme laws as outlined by Vile (7). The constitution has been amended 27 times since its inception: the amendments include the bill of rights and the political power articles. Some of the political power amendments include article 12 of the constitution which proposes separation of the president’s and the vice president’s election vote in the Electoral College (Vile 19). In a case of a tie in a presidential election, the house of representatives is mandated to break the deadlock by choosing the president while the Senate is mandate to chose the vice president. The devolution of powers is expected to restrict a single power from making certain decisions alone. Article 16 proposes amendments and establishment of federal income tax collection (Vile 35). The amendment is meant to avoid the dominance of particular states on collection of income taxes. The constitution centralizes the power to the federal government whereby it sets the tax formula without interference from any quarter. Thus no individual state will have powers in collecting the income tax as pointed out by Vile (70)
