Social Responsibility and Managerial Ethics
Part 1
Due to diversity in workplaces in terms of the age, gender, social, education and economic background, the organizations and the society has laid down principles and ideas on the individualÂ’s conduct and behaviors that are acceptable or unacceptable while dealing with other people. It is said that an ethical person is the person who conduct himself in a manner that is acceptable in the society or in the organization where the person is employed. Thus ethics can be defined as the acceptable code of conduct that promotes harmony and welfare of other people in the society (Nelson & Cooper, 2007).
People in the society or in the organization have different professional which include accountants, business managers, lawyers musicians among others who are motivated to work in order to pursue their personal interest which mostly is in economic terms. In sociology, a person is viewed to be more than an “economic man” whose only goal is to pursue his personal interest such as making money at the expense of the welfare or the good of the society. The person whose only goals is to pursue his personal goals regardless of the whether what he is doing is acceptable or not is considered as an unethical person (Brooks & Dunn, 2009).
