Reflective Journal – Module 2
Purpose
The purposes of this reflective journal are to (1) promote deeper reflection about and understanding of the course materials and (2) create an anthology of information that you find most valuable and can apply throughout your career.
Instructions
The reflective journal is designed to be based on your reflection and introspection about content covered in Module 2. The journal comprises your thoughts relating to your development as a thinking, evidence-based public administration professional. For this journal, you will note 3-5 main takeaways from Module 2. Each take-away should be clearly identified (for example, by using numbering or stating something like, “my first take-away is….”). Your journal should be professionally written, with proper spelling and grammar. You are encouraged to use course terminology, while limiting large amounts of quoted material from the textbook or other materials. There is no prescription on how you structure your journal aside from that.
Following are some ideas for consideration. Please note that you are not required to answer these questions; rather, they are meant to help you reflect on course content.
Was there a certain Module concept that helped you learn something about yourself as a public administration professional?
Did you have any “aha moments” during the Module?
Was there a certain Module concept that you found especially valuable and applicable in your career?
What new knowledge, skills or understanding you feel you have gained from the Module?
Was there a particularly poignant comment from discussions, readings, etc.?
Did you have any flashes of inspiration?
Did you find any Module aspects to be difficult or contradictory?
