Reaction paper on Machiavelli The Prince
Introduction
Niccolo di Bernado dei Machiavelli (May 3rd 1469-June 21st 1527), simply known as Niccolo Machiavelli, was born in Florence, Italy, in which he, upon growing up, became an Italian political philosopher, one of the founders of modern day political science, a diplomat, a poet, a musician and a playwright. Besides these, Niccolo was best known in Italy as a civil servant in the Florentine Republic, on the account that he was well trained in grammar, rhetoric and Latin. With all these credentials, it was easy for Machiavelli to rise through the ranks, becoming the advisor of the ItalyÂ’s head of state.
Nevertheless, with politically high profile jobs, there are political powerplays which at times can warrant fatal demotions, or even executions. Such, particularly, the former, was the case with Machiavelli, whose demotion found him exiled into the remote parts of Italy. It is in this place and time that Machiavelli had the opportunity to pen down, his political advice to the new prince. These were later compiled into one volume of political philosophy, with the titulus, Ill Principe, The Prince.
