The MTV (Music Television) is a New York based cable television network which was launched on August 1st 1981. Prior to its restructuring, the MTV was created with the primordial purpose of playing music videos which were guided by on-the-air hosts who were known as the VJs.

Initially, before the restructuring and the re-branding of the music channel, MTV was unicellular. Nevertheless, after the restructuring and the re-branding, MTV has subsequently spawned an array of internationally affiliated channels and the sister channels in America.
