Inmate Litigation

Introduction

Inmate Litigation Section normally comprises full-time attorneys who number up to five, in defense of the state against lawsuits of civil nature that inmates file. At the moment, according to Barak (2007), there are about 200 civil lawsuits that have been filed by inmates. Usually, these actions are enshrined under Act of State Tort Claims, Administrative Procedures Act and the Federal Civil Rights Act. The attorneys that act in the Inmate Litigation Section deal with the suits from the trials, all through to the appellate courts of appeal.
