In the development of the management plan that will ensure all the objectives that have been mentioned in the preceding four stages of developing an effective manager of the 21^st century, a plan that will give details to develop the skills and knowledge listed in the “Opportunities for Improvement Statement” is necessary. The opportunity for improvement is always there for all managers whether new or those who are already established. In carrying out their duties, managers are always faced with new challenges and new situations and as a result, a continuous way of aIDing their skills and knowledge is necessary based on the fact that some of the conflicts encountered are unique demanding exceptional solutions (Robbins & Coulter, 2010).

One of the things that make managers to be effective is the act of listening. A managerial position exposes someone to so many people and all these come to the managers with different issues all of which the manager needs to practice listening to. The junior employees, the peers and the boss all come to these people expecting to get some attention to present their concerns. This is the best give that a manager can give to his colleagues in the organization and particularly the junior employees (Robbins & Coulter, 2010).  When someone comes to the office, the managers should give these speakers total focus by stopping what they were doing before the person entered the office and by this they will be able to get the true message and give the best response. This is a virtue that has been neglected by most managers but a very important virtue to embrace. Learning to master on listening will give a manager a quantum dive towards effective management (Whetten & Cameron, 2007).
