After a successful attempt in establish a Disneyland in Anaheim, the target for the Disney cooperation was to establish itself in Europe and their priority was to gain the market in France, Spain and the UK however the UK wasnÂ’t much in the priority after realizing that the expenses was too high therefore the choice remained to be France and Spain. The final destination was then chosen to be France whereby Marne-la-Vallee. The place was chosen because of its closeness to the city of Paris and a strategic point in the heart of Europe. The strategy worked very well in the paper as it was aimed at attracting the tourist and visitors to France and precisely Paris (Lopez, 2002). The focused market was quiet strategic since the population of the area was fairly good hence a good customer hub. The business construction started and eventually started operations on April 1992.
The estimated number of visitors in the opening day was 500,000 but the number that responded was just 50,000. The low turn was partly affected by the view of the French that the cooperation could kill their culture. The number of visitorÂ’s turnout to the Euro Disney was trice less and the projected value. The value of their stock went down to an alarming trice less than the original value. The situation worsen as more of the Americans resulted in having their holidays in the US since the dollar was a bit cheaper therefore Florida was the destination of choice for the American tourist therefore foregoing there trip to Europe (Disneyland , 2006). The problems continued as the cooperation tried to re truck its destiny; after an attempt to start the Indiana roller-coaster ride as it was hit by a tragedy as some quests were injured by the ride after involving in an emergency braking whereby it was finally closed for sometimes for some investigations to commence (Seabrook, 2004).
