Fast Food Nation
Topic: Fast Food Nation
Fast food nation is one of the most controversial movies in America targeting the fast food industry. The directors of the movie show how many flaws there are in the system leading from ranches to meat processing until the end point of hamburger production. It is as if the movie intends to discourage people from consumption of the fast foods as they have a great health risk but this is not all. There is exploitation of people which can be seen in the Mickey fast food production where illegal Mexican immigrants are taken into employment in the meat packing department. Safety in the industry is disregarded so much so that even chunks of meat falling on the dirty floors are taken and still used to make hamburgers. AIDitionally, the industry is in total disregard of the health hazards that the industry poses in production such as when ground supervisors at the abattoirs confirm that they are aware that some of the meat gets contaminated with fecal matter as the meat needed in the industry is too much and therefore they overlook some of the regulation. Above all, there is great loss of human conscience when Sylvia has to have sex with a supervisor so that she can work in the company. This indicates there is too much bleach of cultural activities which includes sex, drug abuse, violence and most of all disregard for the rule of law for human safety and animal handling. All this put Americans at risk but no one in the industry seems to care. They go as much as employing and exploiting teenagers in this industry (Kinnear, Willis and Moreno,2006).
