Compost Manure

Compost Manure

I have lived in the city my whole life, and this means that I have been living in an apartment all this time. It is, therefore, a surprise to me that there can be such an intriguing idea as I see in the field trip to a manure compost yard. This has changed my perception of wastes and the artificial fertilizer used by farmers. Some of the benefits of compost, as I have since learned, are that it converts the organic wastes into the energy. The energy from the decomposed waste produces plants with healthy products. In a way, I can compare compost with recycling. If a recycling firm buys plastics or papers and uses these wastes to make other products for other purposes such as packaging, this means that they have reused the material. In the same way, when the natural products from plants such as banana peels are used in a compost pit, then it means that the nutrients that are found on these peels will be returned back to the soil so that they are reused in production of healthier plants.

I have also come to understand that there is a chance for people living in apartments such as myself, to make composts so that they can be used for flower gardens or even for nutritious value on plants planted in vases such as the plants that are normally kept in houses and on the house tops. I have also learned that there are specifically manufactured containers that can be used for decomposing of natural wastes. These containers allow for convenience in making composts. The artificial fertilizers that are so popular and advertised on television adverts do not have as much value in the soil as the compost. Bacteria play a significant part in the decomposition process. AIDitionally, they also help in fixing gases such as nitrogen and aerate the soil. This is because the process of decomposing wastes in compost involves bacteria, which play significant roles, in aerating the soil. Unfortunately, these are not the case with the artificial manures. It is rather unfortunate that there is no time in my life that I have seen a commercial on television introducing individuals to use of compost in their gardening exercises and, farming. This is perhaps the reason why I have not known the existence of such an exercise.  I learned in the field trip that the science of compost making is an old tradition. Furthermore, compost has more benefits to pulverizing and enriching the soil than any chemical advancement made on the soil enrichment. This means that governments and individuals lack commitment on this exercise, perhaps because it looks so archaic, and; therefore, people do not understand the value of the exercise to the soil and the environment.
