Bipolar I disorder
Adults have repeatedly been diagnosed with Bipolar I disorder. In fact, over half the adults diagnosed with this condition are reported to have experienced traumatic situations during their lives; from childhood to adulthood. In most cases, this occurrence is associated with stressful experiences such as harsh environment during a childÂ’s development. The object of research in this respect is how the emotions of adults contribute to their vulnerability to Bipolar I disorder. This will seek to explore a range of experiences of adversity and life conflict that are likely to cause instability in the emotions of an adult and lead to this health condition. Bipolar I disorder is mostly diagnosed in persons in the late teens and early adult years with some people developing symptoms even earlier in life. However, most cases are of those who develop the condition in later stages of life. This research will therefore determine how adult emotions are attached to the disorder and mood states in BPI. The characteristics of BPI disorder will be explored in relation to adult emotional instability. The causes of BPI disorder in this respect will also be discussed.
